Who must take the dMAT for APS India?

As of 1 July 2026, the dMAT applies to Indian APS applicants applying for a Master's from Summer Semester 2027 onward when their previous degree is in Engineering, Commerce or Accounting or Finance or Economics, or Business or Management.

Is the dMAT a pass or fail test?

Accepted Answer

No. APS India says the dMAT is not a stand-alone pass or fail test for the APS certificate. But if you are affected, your APS documentation is incomplete without the dMAT certificate.

How much does the dMAT cost?

Accepted Answer

The published India dMAT fee is EUR 150, paid to g.a.s.t. during registration. This is separate from the normal APS fee and separate from any MS in Germany service fee.

What is the deadline for the first India dMAT sitting?

Accepted Answer

The first published India dMAT sitting is on 26 September 2026. Registration opened on 29 June 2026 and closes on 15 September 2026. Results are scheduled for 12 October 2026.

Do standalone Computer Science, BCA, IT, Data Science, or AI degrees count?

Accepted Answer

Not automatically. The official affected-fields list distinguishes standalone CS, BCA, IT, Data Science, AI, AI and ML, and Cyber Security from Engineering titles. Computer Science and Engineering is affected, but standalone Computer Science usually is not.

What if my degree title is mixed or interdisciplinary?

Accepted Answer

Mixed titles such as Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering and Management, Business Analytics, or sector-specific Management need case-by-case classification against the official affected-fields list. Do not guess from the everyday course name.

Can I type my exact Bachelor's title?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On the Bachelor's step, search titles such as B.Tech Mechanical, BCA, or B.Sc Pharmacy. We match against the official APS India affected-fields list. Borderline titles (Hotel, Tourism, Aviation, Healthcare Management, mixed names) stay uncertain until APS reads the wording on your certificate.

I already registered for APS — do I still need the dMAT?

Accepted Answer

No. If you completed your APS online registration or shipped your documents before 29 June 2026, you are exempt for that APS procedure, even if the exam becomes mandatory afterward for others.

Question 9

Does this affect Winter Semester 2026/27 applicants?

Accepted Answer

No. The first dMAT certificates are not available until 12 October 2026, after most Winter 2026/27 deadlines have passed, so that intake is unaffected either way.

Question 10

Does a low dMAT score disqualify me from APS or admission?

Accepted Answer

No. It is not pass/fail for APS purposes — your score and percentile appear on your APS certificate, and each university independently decides how much weight to give it. You still need the certificate if you are in an affected field.

Question 11

Are Bachelor's, PhD, and exchange-program students exempt?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Bachelor's, PhD, and exchange-program applicants are exempt regardless of field or intake. The dMAT rule is for Master's applicants in the affected fields from Summer Semester 2027 onward.
