Studying in Karlsruhe

Karlsruhe was planned as a radial 'fan city' from the Schloss. Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) merged university and national research lab — a top address for CS, mechanical, and electrical engineering. The Federal Constitutional Court and many federal agencies sit here. France is a short tram ride west.

Oststadt and Südstadt are student dense. Campus north and south are linked by tram; bikes work year-round. The city is less scenic than Heidelberg but stronger for tech internships. Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe runs central halls. Strasbourg and the Black Forest are easy weekend trips.
