Studying in Bochum

Bochum sits in the Ruhr industrial region (Ruhrgebiet), once coal and steel, now services and universities. Ruhr-Universität Bochum is a campus university on a hill above the city — green and self-contained. Dortmund, Essen, and Düsseldorf are short train rides for jobs and nightlife.

Most social life is on campus or in Bochum's Bermuda3eck bar triangle. The U35 links campus to the city centre. Students use the semester ticket across NRW's VRR network. Rent is budget-tier; the trade-off is post-industrial cityscape, not Alpine views. RUB's international office runs strong orientation weeks.
