Studying in Dresden

Dresden was rebuilt after WWII into a Baroque showpiece on the Elbe. TU Dresden is a full technical university (Excellence Initiative) with strong microelectronics and materials science. The city mixes tourism (Zwinger, Semperoper) with a growing tech scene ('Silicon Saxon'). Eastern Germany pricing keeps living costs below western peers.

Neustadt (across the river) is the alternative student quarter; main campus is north. S-Bahn and trams link labs spread across the city. German helps in Ämter more than in Berlin. Elbe meadows and Saxon Switzerland climbing are weekend defaults. Studentenwerk Dresden halls are more attainable than Munich's.
